WATER BILL SHOCK AS SOUTH WEST CUSTOMERS FACE 28% PRICE HIKE IN 2025 - 💦 💷
Report by Duncan Williams for Pulman's Weekly News
Households across the South West will see a significant increase in their water bills from 1st April 2025, with prices set to rise by 28%, South West Water has confirmed.
Compared to the charges for 2024/25, the average customer will pay an additional 41 pence per day, resulting in a substantial annual increase.
The company has cited several factors influencing the rise, including inflation, regional water usage, and the number of customers served.
South West Water has also pointed to regional variations in water costs, highlighting that factors such as water availability, local geography, and the balance of rural versus urban supply all impact their tariffs.
A spokesperson for South West Water said: "What we can say for certain is that we have worked carefully to minimise cost increases as much as possible, while simultaneously committing to a record investment across our network."
The company says the increased revenue will support a £3.2 billion investment to address key customer priorities, including ensuring the continued supply of safe, clean drinking water, reducing storm overflows, protecting the environment, and providing affordability support for those in need.
"We are doing everything we can to keep our bills affordable for everyone," the spokesperson added.
The price hike is expected to impact thousands of households and businesses across the South West.
