Urgent 'Do Not Eat' warnings issued as multiple supermarket products are recalled
Report by Duncan Williams for News Advertiser newspapers
Shoppers across the UK are being urged to check their cupboards and freezers after a series of urgent product recalls were announced by major supermarkets, including Lidl, Tesco, Iceland and others.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued “do not eat” warnings over a range of items due to undeclared allergens, contamination risks and, in one case, the possible presence of insects.
The recalls affect products sold nationwide, with the FSA stressing that certain foods could pose serious health risks to those with allergies or intolerances - and in some cases to the general public.
Lidl – Red Hen Tempura Chicken Steaks
Lidl GB is recalling 380g packs of Red Hen Tempura Chicken Steaks because they contain milk which is not highlighted in bold on the label, breaching allergy labelling rules.
This makes them a possible health risk for anyone with a milk allergy or intolerance.
Affected best before dates:
11th December 2026
16th December 2026
22nd December 2026
30th December 2026
17th January 2027
Customers are advised not to eat the product if allergic to milk and to return it to the store for a full refund.
Tesco – Free From Katsu Curry Meal Kit
Tesco has recalled all batches of its Free From Katsu Curry Meal Kit with a best before date up to and including 12th December, due to undeclared soya. This poses a health risk to anyone with a soya allergy.
Refunds are available in-store, and allergy organisations have been informed.
Neosis Schokolade Love of Dubai Chocolate
The FSA has issued a national Food Alert for Action for all 95g packs of this chocolate after undeclared peanuts were found.
This poses a serious risk to anyone with a peanut allergy.
Businesses selling the product have been told to stop sales immediately. The chocolate is manufactured by NEOSIS, Gida ve Unlu Mam Ltd, and distributed by Black Sea Trading Ltd, which has so far been uncontactable.
Woodstock Vanilla Crème Crowns
Woodstock Foods is recalling its 12 x 50g Vanilla Crème Crowns (batch code 224934, best before January 2026) due to undeclared hazelnuts. These pastries are a danger to anyone with a nut allergy.
Refunds are available in-store, and point-of-sale notices will be displayed.
Unilever – Wall’s Mini Milk Ice Lollies
Strawberry and chocolate flavour Mini Milk lollies have been recalled because allergens - including milk, pistachios, peanuts and soya - are not labelled in English.
Affected batch codes: L5123, L5126, L5127, L5128, L5129, L5141, L5142.
This makes them a risk to people with allergies to any of the listed ingredients.
Iceland – Vegetable Lasagne
Iceland is recalling its Vegetable Lasagne (best before 23rd July 2026 and 30th July 2026) because it may contain pieces of hard plastic, making it unsafe to eat.
Customers are urged to return the product for a full refund.
Rude Health Chocolate Crunch Granola
Rude Health Foods Ltd is recalling its 400g Chocolate Crunch Granola (best before 24th October) due to the possible presence of insects.
The product is sold by Tesco, Ocado, Amazon and other retailers.
What to Do if You Have an Affected Product
Do not eat the product, especially if you have the relevant allergy.
Return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
For allergy-related recalls, you can also contact the manufacturer or supermarket’s customer care team for further guidance.
About Product Recalls
A food product may be withdrawn (removed from sale) or recalled (customers asked to return it) if it poses a risk to health.
The FSA issues public notices and, in serious cases, Food Alerts for Action, directing local authorities on enforcement measures.
