Silver Street in Ilminster to close for annual Midsummer Experience event
Report by Duncan Williams for Pulman's Weekly News
Residents and visitors to Ilminster are being advised of a full road closure on Silver Street this Saturday, 7th June, as the town prepares to celebrate its annual Midsummer Experience.
The road will be closed to all traffic between Market Square and Court Barton from 7.30am to 4.30pm to allow for the popular food and craft market. The west end of Silver Street will remain accessible via Berryman's Lane, and public transport will not be affected.
Access to Victoria Court and off-street parking for Silver Street residents will be restricted during the closure. Residents are also kindly asked to move any vehicles from the road before 7.00am to assist with the smooth running of the event.
An event spokesperson said: “We apologise for any inconvenience and hope that everyone is able to attend and enjoy the events taking place in town on Saturday.”
The road closure forms part of a wider programme of community events taking place across Ilminster throughout the weekend. Alongside the food and craft market, there will be a suitcase market at Market House, street entertainment around the town centre, and an art exhibition in the Minster Rooms behind the Dolphin pub.
The Midsummer Experience is a key fixture in the local calendar, bringing together residents, businesses and visitors to celebrate the town’s vibrant community spirit.
Full details of all events taking place on 7th and 8th June can be found on the Ilminster Midsummer Experience website.
