Emergency services respond swiftly to life-threatening medical incident in Chard
Late on Thursday 12th June, emergency services responded quickly to a life-threatening medical emergency in Chard.
At 11.32pm, the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service Control Room received a call from the South Western Ambulance Service requesting assistance with a Category One Medical Emergency, which involves a serious illness or injury.
Fire crews from Axminster Fire Station were dispatched immediately and arrived alongside paramedics from the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
Upon arrival, the fire crews provided basic first aid, carried out casualty observations, and offered reassurance to the patient while waiting for the ambulance team.
An Axminster Fire Station spokesperson said: “Crews remained on scene a while longer assisting the ambulance crews before clearing from this incident.”
The fire crews’ prompt medical support helped stabilise the patient until paramedics took over care.
