Report by Duncan Williams for Pulman's Weekly News
Chard in South Somerset is set to host a vibrant day of creativity, culture, and community spirit as the Chard Together Festival of Friendship returns on Saturday, 22nd March at Chard Guildhall and Chard Library.
Following last yearβs success, which saw 800 attendees, this yearβs event promises an even more exciting celebration of inclusivity and togetherness.
Running from 10.30am to 3.00pm, the festival will feature singing and dancing performances from Somerset and around the world, arts and crafts, face painting, henna art, and an array of delicious foods to try.
Visitors can also explore informative community stalls and take part in free workshops hosted by Somerset Art Works, Glade, Take Art, The Engine Room, Chard Museum, Cultivate, Chard Library, and South West Heritage.
A special highlight of the day will be the exclusive premiere of a video art installation by local artist Richard Tomlinson, created in collaboration with students from Avishayes, Manor Court, and Redstart schools. The artwork, inspired by the theme of friendship, will be revealed during the festival.
In addition, Chard Library will showcase an art competition exhibition, featuring creative posters designed by students from Chard and surrounding villages, each offering a unique interpretation of friendship.
With something for everyone, the festival invites residents and visitors alike to come together, get involved, and celebrate the power of friendship in the heart of South Somerset.
