Families are being urged to put a spring in their step and head to Ferne Animal Sanctuary this Easter, as the beloved charity prepares to welcome the public back for its annual Spring Festival on Sunday, 20th April.
Nestled in the heart of the Blackdown Hills near Chard, Ferne promises a day brimming with fun, creativity and, of course, plenty of chocolate – all in support of a truly worthy cause.
This year’s festivities include an exciting Easter-themed adventure trail that weaves through the sanctuary’s picturesque 72-acre grounds. Children can search for eggs, solve puzzles, and even spot the elusive Easter Bunny, all while learning about the animals under Ferne’s care.
“We’re egg-cited to welcome visitors back for another fantastic Spring event,” said Amy Rendell, corporate and events officer at Ferne Animal Sanctuary. “We love celebrating Easter and the start of the visitor season with our wonderful community. We have planned a day filled with fun, discovery and of course, plenty of opportunities to meet our incredible animal friends."
The Creative Corner is sure to delight younger guests, offering a variety of hands-on activities from stained-glass egg painting and Easter wreath decorating to bird-themed brain teasers inspired by the region’s native species.
But it’s not just for the little ones - a lively market of community stalls will feature locally made Easter gifts, crafts and treats, while foodies can indulge in hot toasties served up by Butter Side Up, a favourite local vendor.
“From the Easter egg hunt to our expert pet talks and the brilliant local stalls, there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” Amy added. “Every ticket sold helps us to continue our vital work in rescuing and caring for animals in need - we can’t wait to see families, friends and animal lovers join us for a memorable day.”
Admission is just £5 per adult and £3 per child, making it an affordable day out for families looking to support a long-standing local charity.
Founded during the Second World War by Nina, Duchess of Hamilton & Brandon, Ferne Animal Sanctuary has spent more than 80 years providing refuge to animals in need. Entirely reliant on public support, events like the Spring Festival are essential in helping Ferne continue its mission to rescue, rehome, and rehabilitate hundreds of animals each year.
With animals to meet, chocolate to find, crafts to create and memories to make, Ferne’s Spring Festival looks set to be a cracking day out for all.
